Charis Rae Launch Tour FINALE

And just like that, it’s over.

Well everyone, today marks the last day of my launch tour. Thanks to everyone for participating (more on that), and for reading my ‘lil ‘ol blog. 😉

I’m sad to see this tour – and The Girl Upstairs – come to an end, but I’m excited for what the future holds. 🙂

This tour has been very successful in my eyes, and I really appreciate the people who’ve participated. ❤

Let’s take a look at the posts for today and officially wrap up the launch of Charis Rae:

// Zielle posted a lovely review of my blog with some awesome thought and insight! 😀 Thanks, girl.

// Hope’s post was a little bit late, but that didn’t change how awesome it was! Great job, girl. 🙂

// Light4theLord’s post was in the form of a newspaper article! How cool is that? Thanks for participating, and for the extra boost of creativity! 😀

// Penelope wrote an “Ode to Charis Rae.”   Super sweet and really creative as well! Great job!

// Rebecca’s post was super well-formatted and very pretty! She did a great job, and her blog is awesome. 🙂

Before I end this post, I’d like to thank each and every one of you amazing people for signing up and participating in my launch tour, even if you had to drop out for various reasons.
I also want to thank all of the lovely people who helped me out with my blog — Sarah, May, and Liv most of all. Thanks for putting up with my dozens of emails and comments and helping me figure things out. You’re da bestest. 😘 ❤ 😘

And lastly, I want to thank you, dear reader. If you didn’t participate or weren’t the people mentioned above, I want to thank you for all of the amazing support, confidence, comments, likes, subscriptions, and love you’ve given me. I wouldn’t be here without you all! Even if you didn’t participate in my tour, you still have impacted this blog more than I can express. And I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, me, and Charis Rae.

As I said on Charis Rae, the best is yet to be.

Thank you guys so much! 😘 ❤ 😘

Charis Rae Launch Tour: Days 2 & 3

Hello everyone! I have now officially returned from a week-long beach vacation, full of sun(burns), surf, and lovely memories. 🙂 (I’ll also be sharing tons of pictures over at Charis Rae!)

Since I spent yesterday on the road to home (and stopping to take a dance class from my mom’s friend) and got back late (12:30-ish), I wasn’t able to post. But there was still a lot of wonderful posts and happenings regarding my launch tour, so here I am to share them with you. 😉

// Nicole’s post was absolutely fabulous! She’s super sweet in her post and even shared her thoughts on all this jazz. 😉 Thanks for joinin’ the team, Nicole! 😀

// Enni’s post was super sweet and her blog is awesome. Thanks for the support, Enni!

// Danielle was bursting with excitement, and is legit one of the sweetest girls eva. Thanks for joining me!

// Nabila’s post was super clean and pretty, just like her blog! She’s also a younger blogger who’s legit a pro and is just awesome sauce. Thanks for signing up. 🙂

A couple more people still haven’t posted yet, which is perfectly understandable cause #busy. Thanks to everyone for creating such awesome posts and helping my blog reach your audience! *Skittles for everyone*

Also, special shoutout to Pip for creating her post in under 30 minutes! We had a miscommunication with emails, but she still was able to write up a quick post – and a lovely one it is! 😀 Thanks so much, girl. 🙂

Charis Rae Launch Tour: Day 1

Hullo, and welcome to day one of my very own launch tour! I honestly can’t believe this is happening – it seems only yesterday that I created my very first public blog, or made the transfer to WordPress, or even discovered what blogging was!

Now, years hence, I am moving to a self-hosted, professional-esque website.

To celebrate my launch and help spread the word, you guys signed up to participate in the launch tour of my brand-new blog!

Those who signed up were able to see my blog before the official launch, but the rest of you haven’t seen it yet! :O

It is with deep pleasure that I present my new blog:

*freaks out*

I am so excited to finally be able to share my blog with you guys! I’ve always dreamed of self-hosting but never thought it would actually happen. Thank you all so much for your support and helping me achieve one of my deepest goals! 😀

First off, I’d like to thank all of the amazing people for signing up. You guys are awesome and I really appreciate your support! I also want to thank the followers who didn’t sign up for one reason or another – I love you guys and you’re seriously the best. ❤

{ June 16 }
{ June 17 }

Well everyone, that concludes the first day of my launch tour! This post was short, but thank you so much for reading.   Make sure to check out the rest of the tour, and visit to read more about me, my blog, and subscribe for more posts! 😀

Also, I’m going to be having limited access to WiFi, so I may not get the next posts up as soon as I’d like. So just refer back to this post to see the schedule and check out the other blogs participating!
Thanks so much everyone! 😀

May Recap & Summer Goals {the publish button is my enemy}

GRR. Somehow, instead of saving my draft, I accidentally hit publish??? I’m not sure how that happened. 😡 I actually didn’t know it happened until I went to my friend’s house and saw the post on her email. Believe me, we had a good laugh. XD

So please erase that from your brains and enjoy this completed, updated version of this post. 😉

Well everyone, summer has arrived.

Okay, not technically ’til June 21st, but same difference. 😉

When I first wrote this post, I intended to do a regular recap, but as I got on with writing the post, I realized that I didn’t really writing these kinds of posts. They’re fun, but they don’t really feel real to me.

So instead, I’m going to be sharing a little more in-depth about what I’m planning this summer, along with my goals and what I did this past month. 🙂

i legit had to go through my bujo to see what i did this month XD
  • I designed and announced my new blog! // I’ve been busy this month setting up and designing my new blog – Charis Rae! It was frustrating – shoutout to May and Liv and all the peeps at Ydubs for help! – but I finally managed to nail down my design and layout. 🙂

  • I am now obsessed with Fidget Spinners. Okay, not obsessed, but they’re just so fun to spin around! aghhhh XD
  • I agonized over Camp NaNoWriMo // Okay, that’s technically not true. But I still struggled with figuring out my WIP, giving up & switching WIPs, and all that jazz. *starts singing Chicago* XD
  • I performed in my ballet recital! // pictures below (sorry for the bad quality):

    {click the photos to enlarge}

I’m the blond-ish one in the ballet part, the girl next to the boy (Owen) in our tap dance, and Princess Leia in our Star Wars jazz dance. 🙂

  • My sister started a blog!!! She loves crafts, and thought it would be fun to start a craft blog to share tutorials and things she’s made. I’m sure she’d appreciate a visit from you! Click here or the link above. 🙂
(she’s getting ready to do a post of her sewing projects. 😉 )
  • I was super active in Ydubs. As I’ve mentioned, I’m in a writing workshop (with Light4theLord!). It’s been really fun and beneficial, and I’m excited for the up-and-coming changes that are going on. 🙂 Plus, they’re going to be opening up for registrations! Click here to find out more.
  • And as I said above, I’ve really been working hard on designing and creating Charis Rae. It’s been frustrating and has taken up some time, but I’m finally to a place where I’m happy with the theme, design, and other things. 🙂

In addition to goals, I’ll also be posting some upcoming camps and activities of the summer. 🙂

  • Read 10 books || (one of which must be a book on writing craft)
  • Complete Draft 2 of These Stranger Tides || *shudders* This is proving to be very challenging, but I’m hoping and working hard to revise and eventually re-write for Camp in July.
  • Make macarons and mango chips || I found a recipe for Gluten and Dairy free macarons and am so excited! I’d also like to make some mango chips with our dehydrator. 🙂
  • Take lots of beach/outdoor photos
  • Learn a lot during dance classes || We’re going to be having some guest teachers and doing some hard stuff at intensive and summer classes, and I’m really nervous but wanting to have an open mind and learn a lot.
  • Stretch every day || I’ve already kinda failed this one, ’cause I’ve had early-morning camps and that’s when I stretch, but I’m hoping to get in a strong streak of stretches (alliteration, anyone??) and improve my technique and flexibility.
  • Launch Charis Rae || Well duh. 😛 This will happen very soon! 😀
  • Plus, I’ve already participated in a sewing camp, and am going to do an art camp and possibly help with dance camp! Phew – my summer is going to be busy! XDAnd I’m also going to be going on vacation to the beach in North Carolina! I am SO excited and am not going to be able to wait so long. XD

Well everyone, that concludes my May wrap-up and summer goals! But before I go, I’m going to be sharing the schedule for my launch tour.

Participants, you can use this for reference in your posts. There were also a few changes and two new people signed up, but that will not affect your posts or days.

{I’ve mentioned my new blog a few times, but in case you missed it, I’ll explain.}

I’m going to be transferring TGU to a new, self-hosted platform!
Why exactly am I doing this? Well, I want to be able to boost my blog to the next level and learn how to properly manage the inner workings of self-hosting and coding.

I’ve thought of doing this for a while, and what better time than the present? 😉

Charis Rae!

Along with switching to a self-hosted platform, I’m going to be using my real name! 😀

Here’s a small summary of what my blog is going to be about:

Hello citizens of the World Wide Web!
I’m Charis, a homeschooled teen and the resident blogger of these parts. Welcome to my blog! 😀

My goal with Charis Rae is to share my interests, abilities, and journey through life, with all of you along for the ride. Only God knows where this blog will take me, but I’m excited to have you guys right beside me.

Are you excited? Exploding inside? I sure am! 😀 But wait – there’s moreYou – my amazing and loyal follower – can participate in the launch of Charis Rae! 😀

To help celebrate and spread the word of my new blog, I’m going to  be hosting a launch tour!

Similar to the book tours you’ve seen around the web, you guys can sign up to write a post on my blog – telling your readers about my blog launch, sharing an interview, a guest post, etc.

The great thing is, if you sign up, you’ll get an exclusive look at my new blog! I will send you the link to it, and you’ll get to like, comment, and give feedback before the launch tour!

  • The launch tour will be from June 16-19.
  • Once I get enough people signed up, I will email you all of the info for your posts, as well as what day you’ll post on.
  • When I email you with your info, I’ll also be sending you the exclusive link to my blog. You can take a look around, give feedback, and comment!
  • Your posts can be whatever you want, but some suggestions of mine would be an interview, a short guest post (which could include the interview), or just a simple spotlight. I’ll also be sharing more ideas & information to those who sign up.

Signing up is simple! Fill out the form below and click submit! In a week or so, I’ll email you with details and information for your posts. 🙂

NOTE:  If you can’t sign up for my launch tour, you can still help spread the word! Simply include the link to this post – or my new blog, once it launches – in one of your posts! 😀

Are you signing up for the tour?

If you have any questions, leave a comment below! 😀

200 Follower Q&A

Hello everyone, and welcome to my 200+ Follower Q&A! As of right now, I have 241 followers, and I thought it would be fun to have a Q&A to celebrate! 😀
You guys have sent in all of your questions, and I’m super excited to answer them. 🙂

I’m going to be organizing the questions into 3 categories – BLOGGING, READING, and MISC.
In today’s post, I’ll be answering blogging and reading-related questions. 🙂

What is your favorite part about blogging?

I love the community. I’ve met so many amazing people through blogging – people I would have otherwise never have met or interacted with. I’ve found a place to pour out my thoughts, emotions, and interests – and people who will read, listen, and respond.

How long have you been blogging?

About 4 or 5 years, counting the private, Blogspot-hosted blog that I posted on every so often.

What made you start blogging?

I honestly don’t know. ( XD ) My dad started a blog for me and showed me how to do it. I kinda just took it up and started doing it too. But I started blogging publicly because I wanted others to read and respond to my writing – more than my current amount of readers had.

Have you ever considered giving up blogging?

Yes. I sometimes feel overwhelmed – there’s so much that goes into blogging, and I feel like I can’t do it all. But you guys – my amazing readers – and your comments and support are what keep me going. ❤

Favorite blog post you ever did?

I really enjoyed the Artwork Showcase I recently did, as well as the April Fool’s post I did last month. I’d been planning it since December, and it was fun to finally do it. XD My monthly recaps are also fun to make. 🙂

Worst blog post you ever did?

I’ve deleted many of my old posts from my Blogspot blog, but probably my 50 Follower Q&A (which I never did XD ) or one of my doll photoshoots. 😛

Favorite blog?

What kind of a question is this? ( XD ) I honestly have no clue…everyone’s blog is unique and wonderful in their own way.

How has blogging changed you? Positively? Negatively?

As I said above, I have an outlet to channel myself into. But with blogging comes much responsibility, and I often spend a lot of time on the computer – time I could be doing other things.

What are some of your very favorite books?

GAH! This is so hard, because I’m a very critical reader and it takes a lot to get a book on my favorites list. XD But regardless, The Giver is one of my absolutely favorite books that I’ve ever read. (And the movie is actually pretty good! 😀 )

YOU’RE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE! Thinking practically & strategically, which 5 book characters do you choose as the other members of your fellowship?

Oh dear. *thinks hard* I would choose Aaron from The Unwanteds (he’s great with magic and building things), Lucy from Narnia (we need someone who can understand animals), Percy Jackson (water boy XD ), Sophie from Keeper of the Lost Cities (she can teleport us away!), and maybe Anne from Anne of Green Gables. I could always use some optimism, though it might drive me insane. 😛 But Percy and Sophie can always get us off. XD

Let’s say that you’re going to be trapped in a room with one person for the next 365 days without anyone else to keep you company. Luckily, you can choose that person! The catch is that it has to be a villain from a YA book or classical lit. Which villain do you choose?

GAH THIS IS SO HARD. ( XD ) Right now my brain is telling me Death from The Book Thief. I think it would be a very interesting experience. 😛

You find yourself smack-dab in the middle of a book’s world without warning or preparation. You’re not quipped with any weapons, food, or companions. Would you rather be caught in the middle of Narnia’s battle with Jadis, with Gollum and Bilbo, or in the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened?

AGH! Why do these questions have to be so hard?? I would definitely pick going to the L.I.V.E….it seems the least dangerous of the places, since I wouldn’t have any weapons to fight and food is provided there. 😉

What’s your favorite book genre?

I’m actually a “reader of all trades,” in the sense that I read many different genres, within the genre of fiction. I enjoy fantasy, historical and contemporary fiction, and dystopian, although I haven’t read much of it. I’ve also been reading more YA books, too, and have several on my TBR. 😉

What are three of your favorite classic, non-modern books?

I love Alice’s Adventures in WonderlandPride and Prejudice, and Anne of Green Gables. 🙂

What was your favorite story or book when you were little?

I absolutely loved The Chronicles of Narnia series when I was little. My dad read it to us when we were little and I just loved the story. 🙂

That concludes the first part (out of two) of my 200 Follower Q&A! 😀 Come back next time for the next part, in which I the boatload of random, miscellaneous questions you guys asked! 😀 😛 😉

Did you enjoy the first part of my Q&A?
Are you a bookworm like me?
What’s your least favorite and favorite part of blogging? How has blogging changed you?

Feel free to answer any of the other questions! I can’t wait to hear from you. 🙂

PLUS: Who else freaked out at the characters and photos from The Last Jedi that were released today? *raises hand* If you didn’t see them, head over to the Star Wars YouTube channel and come back to fangirl with me! 😀

Love, Grace
(I am currently without a signoff XD )

The Girl Upstairs Artwork Exhibit // art by moi

Hey guys, and welcome to the first-ever artwork exhibit of The Girl Upstairs! (soon to be my new blog…mwahahahaha)

*ahem* Ever since I became a pen pal, my interest in artwork has really peaked. And let me tell you, my pen pal is an extremely good artist, and has really inspired me to pursue more artwork.
I’ve collected some artwork I’ve made over the past several months and am here to show all of you guys! 😀

Let’s begin! 😀

ignore this awful featured image…it just wasn’t workin’ for me. 😛

First off, let’s look at some regular, “misc” artwork. 😉

For some reason this photo turned out a little blurry when I cropped it, but I painted a close-up of a sunflower for an art class. The art class was fun and this was one of my few successes. XD

Sorry, I just love this one sooooo much! I painted this with my BFF Harper last summer at her house and I LOOOVE how it turned out! 😀 😀 😀

I painted this one at another art class, and was very pleased with the results! The photo didn’t quite turn out right, but you can kinda get the idea. 😉

This was was also fun! can you find the unicorn? XD

In the art class that we made the sunflower in, we also did self-portrait pop art. It took forever but was really fun! (And also ignore the un-finished hair…my sharpie ran out. XD )
Next up, we have some envelope art!

This was my first ever envelope I made, and I think it turned out pretty good! The dots took a while, but it was fun. 🙂

This one was okay… 😛

This was really fun to make! I enjoyed making it and thought it turned out great. 🙂

AHH I LOVE THIS ONE. ( XD ) I just LOVE how it turned out! 😀

And last but not least…a bird one! This one was very fun to make and I absolutely loved how it turned out – it’s my favorite so far!  😀

This next one isn’t envelope art, but LOVE IT SO MUCH and had to save it until the end. 😉

I mean LOOK GUYS IT’S HAMILTON LOGOS!!! 😱 *points wildly*

These, by far, were the absolutely favorite thing I may this year. I made the regular logo at Harper’s house (when I made the waterfall), and I decided to make Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy for my friend Eden’s birthday, and good ‘ol George for her brother and my BFF, Owen. 🙂
DIDN’T THEY TURN OUT GREAT!!! *freaks out* okay I better just stop now

Did you enjoy my art showcase?
Which “masterpiece” was your favorite?
Do you enjoy art? What do you like to make?

Before I sign off, I’d like to add a little bit of info about my new blog, because I’m sure a lot of you are dying in agony. XD I’ll be doing an official post soon, but I am working on creating a paid, more-professional-platform-hosted blog. I’d been pondering this for a while, but my dad prompted me to start the blog and be able to learn coding, design, etc. on a more professional level.

Anyway, I’m really excited and can’t wait for you guys to see the finished product! And in case you’re wondering, it will be a lot like this blog – just a different URL, using my real name, and jam-packed with some other awesome content! 😀 Plus, I’m planning a super-fun way for you guys to get involved, so stay tuned! 😀

Does this sound exciting to you? Any ideas or feedback of yours is greatly appreciated. 🙂
